The arrival of the first winter weather did not surprise the maintenance staff at LJO Airport. To enable the smooth course of the current winter, new machines have been purchased for the maintenance of the departure and landing runways.

At the same time as the reconstruction and equipping of Ostrava Leos Janacek Airport with airport lights (CAT II.) and the reconstruction of runway E, whose completion is expected in October 2008, there is also the reconstruction of the northern apron. The main investor for the repair of this area is the Moravian – Silesian region. The expected deadline for completion is December this year.
The reason for repair is the preparation of the airport for the operation of a service centre.

At Ostrava Leos Janacek Airport, construction work has commenced for the installation of new lighting and electro-energy runway systems. The objective is to increase the runway to category CAT II., i.e. the performing of more exact instrument approaching and landing during low visibility. Completion of the reconstruction is planned for October 2008.
